Griya Kinasih boarding home in Malang

In Malang stands the Griya Kinasih boarding home, where around forty to fifty children from across Indonesia live and go to school. Many of them come from families who live on what they earn each day, without steady work and often in debt. Paying for schooling is then hard.

Cicik and Yafeth are the house parents. Together with their own children and the boarding children they form one large family. They bring routine to the day, help with homework, cook and play together. Ordinary things, for children who come from less than ordinary circumstances.

Two churches in Malang carry the home, and its board comes from these congregations too. Setia has had contact here for years. Parts of the home were built with Setia's help, including the hall, and after an earthquake we helped with the rebuilding. Each year we contribute around 1,500 euro towards the daily running costs.
